September 2008
Well, fall is on the way and it looks like the Lord has blessed us with a busy schedule. Fall happens to be my favorite time of year for a number of reasons. I love seeing the beautiful east Tennessee leaves change colors, I love hunting whitetail deer, and I love the Great Smoky Mountains this time of year. In 2006 my family and I lived in Florida for just about six months. And although we love visiting Florida, and seeing dear friends, “there’s no place like home”.
There is nothing I love more than waking up on a cool east Tennessee morning and throwing a log in the fireplace. Just sitting in the living room with Maryann and having our morning cup of coffee together in front of the crackling fireplace is awesome! God has blessed us with a home in the country, surrounded by woods with what seems like a million squirrels, raccoons, and lots of other wildlife. I absolutely love it!
And you know what’s absolutely amazing? Jesus is preparing us a home in Heaven that will be like nothing we’ve ever seen. There’s a popular song called “I can only imagine” that I love to sing. But, the truth of the matter is that we cannot even imagine, or come close to imagining how great Heaven will be. The bible says “no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has waiting for those who love him”.
In July we vacationed at Siesta Key Florida. Siesta Key is a small island/village located on the Gulf of Mexico. Maryann and I made our coffee and decided to take a morning walk on the beach. As we were walking we couldn’t help but be in awe at the beauty of some of the beach houses. As we were walking Maryann noticed one for sale and took one of the papers from the sales box. This little, and I do mean little beach house was listed at $7,900,000.00! I don’t know about you, but I will probably never see that kind of mucho!!!!!
But, it really doesn’t matter because one day I will inherit a home that is priceless. A home hand crafted by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And if you know Jesus, you will to. And everyday I get just a little more homesick. You see, I make mistakes everyday of my life. And when I do I try to fall on my face before God and repent immediately. I want to walk and talk closer with Jesus everyday of my life. And it seems the closer he and I are, the more I want to see him face to face. Will you be there?
I love you all,
Bro. Kenny
